HISTORY OF THE CHURCH

The Church of St John The Baptist, Aldenham

Welcome to our website!  We are a welcoming Christian community based in a beautiful, historic, medieval church set in the heart of the picturesque village of Aldenham. Christian Worship has been offered here continually for over 750 years, and we are always pleased to welcome new people to join in our worship and our community life.

The Church provides a variety of services, mainly in traditional forms, morning and evening – see Services page.  We are hoping soon to have the building open outside of regular service times, so that people can experience this sacred space and find peace and a connection with God.

We have recently welcomed our new part-time Vicar, Rev John Castle, and his wife Georgina (George).  He is happy to visit anyone within the parish, regardless of whether you are a regular churchgoer.

The Church is the perfect setting for Baptisms, Weddings and Funerals which take place throughout the year. The church building is also ideal for concerts and musical practice sessions, boasting a fine Harrison organ and Bechstein piano. The building also offers step free access, WiFi, a PA system, toilets and a separate room available to hire for smaller groups.

Our Saturday morning Coffee/Concerts on the first Saturday of the month take full advantage of this and the fantastic acoustic of the church.  Click the link in the ‘News‘ page for the upcoming musical treats!
